The Dieterich Fire Protection District in Dietrich, Illinois, recently purchased a used fire truck through Command Fire Apparatus and saved over $500,000 compared to the cost of a new truck.

Fire Chief Ross Martin described the experience with Command Fire Apparatus as “very simple, easy to do business with; the whole process was smooth.”

The department had been searching for a new truck for 18 months and had priced new trucks before finding the used 2011 Pierce Saber 1250/1000 Rural Pumper with rear dump through Command Fire Apparatus.

“We traveled to PA to do an inspection of the truck; it was exactly as Jared described it,” said Chief Martin. “Exactly what we were looking for plus some extras that we would not have gotten if we ordered a new truck.”

The department was also pleased with the delivery of the truck.

“It was so nice that it showed up at our firehouse lettered and ready to go in service,” said Chief Martin.

“We actually have recommended Command Fire Apparatus to some of our neighboring departments who loved our truck when they saw it,” Martin added.
